Message from the President: Summer at the Woods is exciting, even a little noisy!

Summer is a wonderful time to be on a college campus, especially that of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods! As I walk around campus, the life of the College is different without the hustle and bustle of students going to and from class, but it is no less busy, and even a bit more noisy!

Actually, the campus is quite active with the construction of the new Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center building project. Each day, I watch with interest as something new and exciting is going on at the construction site. You can see for yourself with our live webcam.

We have also just completed renovations in Hulman Hall to add a new Nursing Center, and will be working throughout the summer to renovate our chemistry laboratories. In all, we are investing just over $11 million in capital improvements on the campus.

Over the course of the summer, we will also welcome many visitors to campus. More than 250 alumnae will descend on the campus in June to celebrate their Reunion. Campers from kindergarten through high school will enjoy Camp at the Woods the last week in June. Hundreds of cyclists will be on campus to begin their journey across the state for their annual RAIN (Ride Across Indiana) Ride on July 12. And many other groups come to campus for band camps, retreats, campus high school visits or to enjoy the tranquility of the grounds.

One of my favorite spots on campus is the stable. It is really such a beautiful, and quiet place. I like to visit a few of our horses there and reflect on how truly special The Woods is to the students, alums, community and to me. I invite you to visit campus this summer and enjoy all that the campus has to offer. You might just find something special here.
