Alumni Week of Service
In 2015, members of The Woods community partnered with the Sisters of Providence to celebrate our 175th anniversary. To help commemorate this historic event, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College alums, Sisters of Providence and friends of the College participated in a Week of Service. The goal was to continue the mission and inspiration of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and to raise awareness of our beloved Woods. Because of the week’s overwhelming success, the SMWC Alumni Board of Directors plan to make this an annual event.
The Week of Service will be held April 16-22, 2017 in communities around the globe. Regional groups will identify service projects and invite participation of fellow alums and their families and friends. This will provide an exciting opportunity to connect with other alums as we unite in one purpose for the future benefit of the common good as we continue to celebrate our roots. Share with us on social media using #SMWCserves.
How do you get involved?
It’s so easy to get involved and make a difference in your community. We are actively working on finding coordinators for the Week of Service. The coordinators will work with members of the Alumni Association to lead communications within a city and rally the group to participate in a day of service during the April 16-22 time-frame. Would YOU like to be a coordinator? The time commitment is minimal, and the chance to share your photos, your time, talent and treasure is priceless.
What are some service project ideas?
There are multiple ways to participate in the Week of Service. The most important aspect is to do something you enjoy and find meaningful.
