Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head basketball coach Deanna Bradley is proud to announce a new addition to the Pomeroy basketball team. On Tuesday, May 6, Jordyn Lloyd signed a letter of intent to join the Pomeroys for the 2014-15 season.
Lloyd is from Grand Forks, N.D. and is currently a senior at Sacred Heart High School in East Grand Forks, Minn. The 5-foot-10 forward was a four-year letterwinner for the Eagles. She was a two-time All-Conference selection and received Co-MVP honors during her junior season. As a senior, she helped guide the Eagles to a 22-3 season and led her team to the NCTC tournament championship where she was named to the All-Tournament Team. She was a co-captain for the Eagles during her final season and finished with 986 points in her prep career.
“Jordyn is a great rebounder and post defender with excellent court awareness,” said Bradley. “Her offensive range is about 12-15 feet and we are looking to expand that beyond the three-point line. She is a versatile player and we are very excited to welcome her as the newest Pomeroy.”
Lloyd becomes the third basketball signee for the 2014 recruiting class. She will also be the first player from North Dakota in SMWC basketball history to join the team.
“I chose SMWC because of how beautiful the campus is,” said Lloyd. “I could see myself spending time on the grounds. I also love how accepting everyone was, especially the girls from the basketball team. It made me want to be a part of the turn around. I’m looking forward to starting my future as a Woodsie!”
Jordyn is the daughter of Lonnie and Heidi Lloyd and plans to study art at SMWC.
