Pomeroys fall to IU-Southeast, 111-67

New Albany, Ind. – The SMWC basketball team played their first road game of the season on Saturday afternoon, but found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard, falling to IU-Southeast 111-67. 

The Pomeroys found themselves down by 26 points at the half and were never able to recover from the large deficit as the Grenadiers were able to cruise to their fourth victory. 

Kennedy Nelson was the only Pomeroy to register double-digits in the game.  She scored 10 points and had 7 rebounds.  Madeline Pea and Chelsea Weaver both registered 9 points for the game and Na-Shaunda Rayford finished with 8 points.  Sierra Lopez led SMWC in rebounds and had 8 for the game. 

IU-Southeast had four players in double-digits and was led by Mary Dye who finished with a double-double scoring 23 points and recording 11 rebounds. 

Points off free throws were one of the biggest advantages for IU-Southeast.  The hosts were able to score 23 more points from the foul line than the Pomeroys.  IU-Southeast was also able to score 33 points off 25 Pomeroy turnovers.       

The Pomeroy record falls to 1-2 and will play their second consecutive game of a back-to-back when they travel to Middletown, Ohio and take on Miami University Middletown on Sunday afternoon.  The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
