Road woes continue for Pomeroys in loss to IU-Northwest

The Pomeroy basketball team suffered another road defeat on Saturday afternoon, dropping their fourth consecutive game 106-67 to the RedHawks of IU-Northwest.

Chelsea Weaver led the Pomeroys with 15 points and six rebounds.  Both Alaura McKemie and Brandi McDaniel chipped in 14 points and Whitney Allen added 12.  Hailee Rittinger also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. 

The RedHawks had five players in double-figures and were led by Megan Holland’s double-double with 31 points and 10 rebounds.  Val Zulevic and Brianne Wischman each had 15 points, while Kelly Gross scored 13 and Rebecca Theriault finished with 12.

For the game, IU-Northwest shot 51% from the field and assisted on 25 of their 45 baskets.  The Redhawks were 8-of-17 from beyond the arc and hit 8-of-12 free throws.  SMWC shot a dismal 36% from the field, hit 10-of-20 from the charity stripe, and were only 5-of-25 from three-point range.  The Pomeroys were outrebounded in total boards 56-39.    

IU-Northwest improves their record to 10-15 while the Pomeroys drop to 5-15 on the season.    

The Pomeroys return to action when they travel to Louisville, Ky. in their match-up with Spalding University on Thursday, Jan. 31.  Game time is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
