March 12, 2014

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head cross country coach Danelle Readinger announced a new addition to the Pomeroy cross country team.  On Tuesday, March 4, Taylor Bunch signed a letter of intent to join the Pomeroys for the 2014 season.

Bunch, an honor roll student, ran all four years as a member of the cross country team at West Vigo High School in West Terre Haute, Ind.  She led the Lady Vikings to the IHSAA regional cross country meet during her sophomore and junior seasons.  Bunch is also a member of the track and field team, where she currently competes in the 1600 meter run, 800 meter run, and the 4x800 meter relay.  She will compete in one more track and field season this spring before joining the Pomeroys next fall.

“I always love having local girls on the team,” said SMWC head coach Readinger.  “There’s hometown pride there.  It’s even more special to have somebody from West Terre Haute.”

Bill Petscher, track and field coach at West Vigo High School is also pleased about Bunch’s opportunity at SMWC.  “Throughout her high school career, Taylor has shown dedication, perseverance, and the desire to achieve all her goals as a runner.  I’m sure we’ll see even more good things from her at the collegiate level because she has a lot of untapped potential.”

Bunch, the daughter of Jeff and Rhonda Bunch, plans to major in psychology at SMWC.
