Pomeroys take fourth at Sodexo Grizzly Invite

Franklin, Ind. – The SMWC cross country team started off the 2013 season on the right foot, securing a fourth place finish at the Sodexo Grizzly Invitational on Saturday morning. The Pomeroys finished with a total of 111 points, one point shy of Transylvania University’s third place finish. In the eight team field, the host Franklin College won the women’s meet with an impressive 59 points and placed three runners in the top-fifteen individually.
Senior Logan Fry led the Pomeroys with a time of 21:30 in the five-kilometer race. She earned herself an eighth place finish overall in a field of 51 total runners. Sophomore Erin Harnett showed well in her first meet of the season, finishing behind Fry, and earning a 15th place finish with a time of 22:26. Freshman Kelsey Wright also performed well for her first meet in a Pomeroy uniform. She secured a top-25 finish, crossing the finish line at the 23:25 mark.
The Pomeroy cross country team will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 7 when they travel to Madison, Ind. and take part in the Madison Kiwanis Invitational. The women’s race is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
