The second race of the season started off with perfect race conditions: little wind and temperatures in the mid 70s. The start was fast and crowded as the SMWC cross country team made their way through one of the toughest 5K courses in the nation.
Stephanie Runyon went out with some very fast times as she came through the 2K and maintained a great pace. She finished 23rd overall in the small state division, which included 18 teams. Casandra Barnett, Sarah Hudson and Jennifer Hughes really showed their heart and determination as they ran the hills and turns of LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. Logan Fry, Erin Harnett, and Corianna Frederick worked to find their pace as each of them set new seasonal best times this evening.
The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods cross country team members were extremely excited at the end of the night to find out that their efforts had paid off, not only individually by running some great times, but also when the posted team scores showed that SMWC had beaten Rose-Hulman!
