Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head cross country coach Danelle Readinger is proud to announce a new addition to the Pomeroy cross country team.  On Saturday, March 29, Cheyenn Wright signed a letter of intent to join the Pomeroys for the 2014 season.

Wright is currently a senior at Owen Valley High School in Spencer, Ind.  She is a three-year letterwinner in cross country and track for the Patriots.  In cross country, Wright was a three-time All-Western Conference selection and two-time regional qualifier.  She was a recipient of her team’s Most Improved Runner Award during her sophomore season and was named her team’s Most Valuable Runner during her senior season.  Wright is also a very bright student, being named to the A/B honor roll during her four years at Owen Valley.

“We are excited that Cheyenn had decided to run at SMWC next season,” said assistant cross country coach Aaron Ballenger.  “She is coming off a great senior season and we feel she will continue that success.  The times she has posted will help us right away next season.”

Wright expressed her excitement and joy in becoming the newest member of the Pomeroy cross country team.  “It feels amazing to officially be joining the cross country team,” said Wright.  “I am so excited to be a part of the team and representing SMWC.”

Cheyenn is the daughter of Shellee Merrill and plans to major in media studies at SMWC.
