Charleston, W.V. – On Wednesday, Oct. 30, the USCAA announced the 2013 women’s soccer All-American teams. The USCAA honors 15 First Team, 15 Second Team, and 20 Honorable Mention student-athletes. Sophomore Amanda Loebker was named to the All-American First Team and senior Samantha Morrison was named to the All-American Honorable Mention Team.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. – The SMWC soccer team concluded its 2013 season yesterday with a team scrimmage. The team was scheduled to play their final game against USCAA opponent Ohio Midwestern University. Unfortunately, Ohio Midwestern had suffered injuries, was short of players, and decided not to come.
Belleville, Ill. – It was another tough day for the SMWC soccer team in Belleville, Illinois, on Saturday against the Lynx of Lindenwood-Belleville. The Lynx showed their ability from the opening whistle, taking much of the game to the Pomeroys, but SMWC held on and defended for 83 minutes, counterattacking in rare moments and taking several more serious injuries, including two concussions. The dam broke late in the game and the Lynx were able to put three scores on the board in the last six minutes for a 3-0 victory.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. – After two straight games on the road, the SMWC soccer team found themselves back at home on Tuesday against the Lady Oaks of Oakland City University. It was a typical cold and wet fall afternoon at The Woods as both teams squared off in their second meeting of the season. After falling behind 2-0 at the half, the Pomeroys were unable make a comeback and eventually fell to the visitors by a final score of 4-1.
St. Catharine, Ky. - The SMWC soccer team traveled to Saint Catharine College on Saturday for a match with the Patriots on a blustery, wet day in Kentucky, still missing senior midfielder Julie Debish and sophomore defender Dulce Chavez. The Patriots came in with a 10-4 record and were fourth in the Mid South Athletic Conference standings. The Pomeroys took the run of play in the first half, but eventually fell 3-1.
Midway, Ky. - Playing without three of its key players, the SMWC soccer team was unable to maintain its 1-0 first half lead, falling to host Midway College 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Oakland City, Ind. - The SMWC soccer team traveled to Oakland City University this afternoon to take on the Mighty Oaks without goalkeeper Georgie Macy and central defender Dulce Chavez. The weather was good, but it was a lackluster day for the Pomeroys, who allowed a goal in each half to go down 2-0.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. - The SMWC soccer team hosted the Golden Bears of West Virginia University Institute of Technology today in a USCAA matchup. Both teams’ first goalkeepers were injured, so both played with backups. It was not a particularly beautiful game, but the Pomeroys struck first and came out on top 4-1 by the final whistle.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. - It was only fitting that the Kick for the Cure match against Rose-Hulman, benefitting the Susan G. Komen Foundation and celebrating Amanda Loebker’s mother’s victory over cancer, would be a great one. From the opening whistle, it was beautiful soccer in both ends of the field, with either SMWC or Rose-Hulman being able to put away the match. After two overtimes, it ended in a 0-0 draw.
Hanover, Ind. - The SMWC soccer team traveled to Hanover College to take on the Panthers, a team now 7-1-1 and fresh off a 2-0 win over Capital University, at that time ranked #2 in the Great Lakes Region of NCAA DIII. It was a lesson, with the Pomeroys coming away on the wrong end of a 9-0 score.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. - The SMWC soccer team hosted Marygrove College today in a clash of top-ten USCAA rivals on Homecoming day. It proved to be a passionate, hard-fought game, with the Pomeroys nearly doubling the Mustangs’ possession in the attacking third, but coming away on the wrong end of a 3-1 outcome.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. - The SMWC soccer team hosted the Bearcats of Brescia University today, an NAIA opponent from the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Bearcats showed a real willingness to close the ball and defend, but eventually the Pomeroys prevailed 5-2.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. - The SMWC soccer team hosted the Ravens of Anderson University on Saturday afternoon. The Ravens played a gritty possession game and challenged early, but SMWC took control of the match in the second half and took away a 2-0 victory.
Berrien Springs, Mich. - The Pomeroy soccer team traveled to Berrien Springs to play the Cardinals of Andrews University on a beautiful Sunday afternoon yesterday. Rebounding from a difficult match on Friday (6-3 loss to Franklin), they dominated possession in a 7-0 victory to even their record at 1-1. It was the first regular season shutout for freshman goalkeeper Georgie Macy and a four-goal game for sophomore striker Amanda Loebker.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. - The Pomeroy soccer team opened their season at home against Franklin College today. Though they took the lead twice in the first half, they could not slow down the Grizzlies’ Vanessa Benham, who scored three times in the second half to put the game away for Franklin.
Entering the 13th season of the program, the Pomeroy soccer team looks to build upon the successes and experience of last year in its upcoming 2013 campaign. The Pomeroys will be returning twelve players from last year’s squad that featured its largest incoming class in recent years. With a favorable schedule, the Pomeroys hope to make a trip back to the USCAA national tournament in early November after missing out the past two seasons.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College head soccer coach Mike Aycock is proud to announce that Morgan Samuelson, a 2012 graduate of South Vermillion High School, has transferred from the University of Indianapolis and has accepted a soccer scholarship with the Pomeroys. On Monday, August 5, Samuelson signed her letter of intent to join the Pomeroys for the 2013 season.
Three Indiana high school soccer teams traveled to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and took part in a three-day team camp, instructed by Pomeroy head coach Mike Aycock and assistant coach Jovan Jeftich. From July 8-10, a total of 56 girls representing Southport High School (Indianapolis, Ind.), Sullivan High School (Sullivan, Ind.), and Lafayette Central Catholic High School (Lafayette, Ind.) experienced a variety of training sessions that covered possession, speed of play, and principles of attacking.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is proud to announce a new addition to the Pomeroy soccer team. On Monday, May 20, Cami Navarra of Warren Central High School signed a letter of intent to accept a soccer scholarship with the Pomeroys for the 2013 season.
