The Pomeroy offense provided strong scoring in the bottom of the second and fifth inning.  In the second inning, senior Melinda Bauer led off with a base on balls followed by junior Carly Painter who singled up the middle.  Senior Melana Minning also walked to load the bases with two outs.  Senior Kelsey Rosselli was able to clear the bases with her double to right center to score all three base runners.  This gave the Pomeroys an early 3-0 advantage.

Junior pitcher Dannielle Owens and the Pomeroy defense held Oakland City scoreless until the fourth inning.  Starting off the rally for Oakland City were back-to-back errors on the Pomeroy infield with a sacrifice fly-out to move the runners.  Then a double from Oakland City’s Kiersten Harville put the Mighty Oaks on the board.

The second inning wouldn’t be the only time SMWC put runs on the board.  In the fifth inning, freshman Kimberly Strattman reached base with an error on the Oakland City infield.  Next up to bat was Junior Shelby Barnett that singled up the middle.  Senior Krista Rangel then walked to load the bases.  Painter would come up to bat with two outs to hit a two-run single up the middle. This would conclude the score at 5-2.

Owens picked up the win and finished with five strikeouts, five hits and three walks in all seven innings pitched.
