August 26, 2014
SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) head volleyball coach, Stephen Beeler, has announced the hiring of Shelby Crncic as SMWC’s assistant volleyball coach.
“I am ecstatic to be a member of the SMWC coaching staff,” said Crncic. “It has always been my dream to be a collegiate coach, and I am so grateful to have been given the chance!”
Crncic is a former high school standout at Terre Haute South High School, where she led Terre Haute South to two sectional championships. Crncic is also a former member of the Arkansas State volleyball team where she played in 122 matches and was a member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll on several occasions. She played with the Red Wolves for four seasons and graduated with a journalism degree in 2014.
Coach Beeler served as Crncic’s high school coach at Terre Haute South, and the two have coached together at the Crossroads Volleyball Club (COA) for the past three years. Crncic’s coaching experience also extends to Arkansas where she coached a 10 and under team with the Arkansas Juniors this past spring. She has also served as an instructor at COA and Honey Creek camps, as well as at the Arkansas State Volleyball individual and team camps.
With her background, Crncic brings knowledge of the local area and what it means to be a quality student-athlete to the SMWC program.
“St. Mary of the Woods is one of the most respected schools in the state, and I am so happy that I get to start my coaching career here,” said Crncic, when asked about being hired by SMWC.
SMWC’s volleyball team will begin play in the fall of 2015. For up-to-date information on the volleyball team and all of SMWC Athletics, tune into smwc.edu/athletics or follow us on Twitter @SMWCAthletics and Like us on Facebook at SMWC Athletics.
