Office of External Relations
The Office of External Relations holds responsibility for developing strategic relationships on behalf of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. External Relations integrates the efforts of several functional areas for the purpose of developing a comprehensive program to strengthen SMWC’s position locally, state-wide, and nationally.
Specifically External Relations is charged with:
- Providing strategic and tactical leadership for all aspects of external relations through support for the public relations, student recruitment, fund raising, community relations, alumni relations, and government relations objectives of SMWC;
- Developing strategies and programs that will position SMWC and retain highly qualified students and ensure SMWC’s place as a leader in the field of education and talent development;
- Reviewing SMWC’s external relations and public affairs efforts to ensure the linkage of each with current and prospective partners; enhancing collaboration, efficiency, and growth.

The Government Relations Office at SMWC is committed to fostering sustained and collaborative relationships with Federal, State, and City Governments.
The Office of External Relations supports the scholarly, creative and outreach activity of SMWC by seeking and securing grants from federal agencies, corporations and foundations. The Director of Grants Development assists faculty and staff members in finding sources of funding for their projects, preparing proposals and submitting applications for grants related to their work and the mission of the College.
Designed to shape a healthier community, Pomeroy Wellness is a partnership between SMWC and the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce that involves members and organizations of Better Health Wabash Valley.
SMWC offers our corporate partners an opportunity to enhance the student experience while showcasing their business at nearly 100 athletic events each year.
Partnerships allow SMWC and its stakeholders to share new possibilities for mutually beneficial growth and development. These collaborations provide new and enhanced educational and enrichment opportunities for employees, SMWC students and alumni, and residents of the surrounding community.
