SMWC’s Woods Online is recognized as one of the best undergraduate online program as well as the Master of Leadership Development for best online graduate business programs. The exclusive list includes rankings of more than 300 schools nationwide.

On a snowy winter day, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) celebrated its 174th commencement on Dec. 14, 2013. Nearly 60 students crossed the stage in the ceremony.

For Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, a new year will mean a new major program. When students enroll in Woods Online to begin in January 2014, an online option will be available – RN to BSN degree completion program. This program seeks to help women and men who hold an associate’s degree and nursing license complete a bachelor’s degree.

For military personnel and their spouses earning a college degree just became a little easier. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College announces a tuition discount for military students and spouses enrolling in its distance education program, Woods Online. Those who have served in the military will receive the discount to offer a special tuition rate of $250 per credit hour.

Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College a $1 million grant through its Initiative to Promote Opportunities through Educational Collaborations. The Woods will use grant funds to build upon the success of its academic programs and develop a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program that will help meet critical needs for nurses, healthcare professionals and leaders in the healthcare industry in the state. Grant funds will support startup costs for curriculum development, faculty, science labs, and the development of a RN to BSN completion program.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) celebrates its 174th commencement on Dec. 14, 2013. The traditional baccalaureate mass begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. The commencement ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Cecilian Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music. An estimated 60 students are expected to graduate in the ceremony.

Discussions and open dialogue about common experiences and controversial ideas – that is what Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) President Dottie King, Ph.D., hopes to initiate with “The Presidential Read.” As a new program this year, “The Presidential Read” is designed to promote continued learning and leadership by encouraging current students to engage in an educational opportunity outside of the typical classroom environment.

Shovels entered the ground on Dec. 3, 2013, on Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) campus as a decade-long vision of the new sports and recreation center was finally coming to fruition. Over 300 students, staff, faculty, alums and friends gathered at the site of the future building as SMWC President Dottie King, Ph.D., spoke about the Pomeroy Pride campaign and thanked all of those who contributed to the success.

The Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation has awarded a $100,000 grant to the Greater Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce Foundation for “Pomeroy Wellness Program: A Heart Healthy Model for Better Health in the Wabash Valley,” a collaborative project in support of its Better Health Wabash Valley initiative.

When Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Associate Professor of Paralegal Studies, Kathryn Myers, saw a gap in the available learning materials for her field, she decided to do something about it. Myers recently became an author when she wrote three books about legal research, writing and analysis.
