Jeff Malloy, dean of students and Student Activities Committee (SAC) advisor at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) recently received the 2014 Midwest Advisor of the Year award at the annual Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) Conference in Chicago, Ill. Malloy is now eligible for Advisor of the Year at the national APCA Programming Conference, March 18-22, 2015, in Jacksonville, Fla.

“This isn’t something we can just give a final ‘ta daaaaaa’ and be done with,” Sherry Bube, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) music therapy graduate, practically sings while presenting her senior grant-funded project at the 2014 Ball Venture Fund Colloquium. Although Sherry Bube graduated this past spring, she has continued to work diligently on the final stages of B.E.A.T.! (Bring Everyone Around the Table), her project to design and create an electronic drum table for use in therapeutic settings.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) celebrates its 176th commencement on Dec. 13, 2014. The traditional baccalaureate mass begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

Students in the Master of Arts in Art Therapy (MAAT) program at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) now have the opportunity to achieve counseling licensure. With the counseling licensure track now a part of the MAAT program, the College adds a range of expertise in faculty and a more dynamic interplay between courses.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) Chorale and Madrigals present their annual Christmas concert on Sun., Dec. 7, 2014 at 3 p.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. This year’s concert is titled “An American Noel” and features choral works originating from various regions of North America.

“Those who can, do AND teach.” That’s what Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) Department Chair and Associate Professor of Graphic Design, Rebecca Andrews wants to stress at the Art Gallery’s first exhibition of the 2014-15 academic year. The exhibit will feature work of the department of text and image faculty and will be on display through Dec. 5, 2014.

From 800 resumes and 238 interviews with many highly qualified candidates, the Directors of the Orr Fellowship chose just over 100 finalists. One of those finalists is Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) senior, Amanda Payton, the first Pomeroy to have made it this far in the process.

The students at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) never shy away from being the first or the only. Making history and aspiring higher – it’s pretty much their M.O. So when three SMWC honors students heard about the opportunity to compete in the Ethics Bowl at Marian University, an event they had no previous knowledge of before SMWC Honors Director Kathryn Myers suggested it, of course they tackled it.

Leadership opportunities – one of the many benefits of attending Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC). As a women’s liberal arts college that prides itself on offering a variety of opportunities to gain leadership skills, SMWC encourages students to take advantage of those opportunities. In the case of Bethany Arrigo, senior accounting major at SMWC, what began as a suggestion from her advisor to join Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) her freshmen year, eventually landed her in the top 10 at National Leadership Conference (NLC) hosted by Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA – PBL).
