SMWC marches in the 2016 Christmas Parade

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), in partnership with Miracle on 7th Street, announces the 2017 “Light Your Way” Christmas Parade. The second annual parade kicks off Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 6 p.m. The parade will follow the magical festivities of the 9th annual Miracle on 7th Street in downtown Terre Haute. The parade route will begin at 9th and Eagle Streets, continuing west on Wabash Avenue and ending at Wabash and 5th Streets.

The community’s response to the first parade in 2016 was overwhelming with more than 8,000 people in attendance. Additionally, the immense talent and effort from nearly 60 participants made the parade a success and created a beautiful scene of holiday merriment for all in attendance. The parade included marching bands, decorated floats, dancers, honored guests and, of course, Santa Claus.

“SMWC and Miracle on 7th Street leadership were amazed by the support of thousands in attendance,” said Rachel Leslie, former vice president for external affairs at SMWC. “The support received made it easy to set in motion an annual parade to bring the community together in a special way. We look forward to seeing the streets lined again this year.”

The organizers invite groups, organizations and businesses to participate in this new community tradition. Up to 80 entries will be accepted. The entries must be family-friendly, contain lights and portray a Christmas theme.
