“My friend inspired me with her experience of attending Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. She’s a working mom who has shown me that no matter what your situation, The Woods provides the assistance and guidance to accomplish your goals. Now I’m a Woods Online student and with the flexibility it gives me, I can spend time with my two children and still have time to do my homework.”

“The staff in the Woods Online office are amazing.  I just switched advisors and Dr. Harrison is great.  You have so many people out here that are willing to help you.   I absorb more by learning this way than in the typical classroom setting.  With the changes they’ve made with D2L [Desire 2 Learn], you don’t feel like you’re in a distance program because you are able to converse with classmates with the discussion boards and everything.”

“My degree has assisted me in my career as I am able to use all areas of my studies in managing my office — from accounting to human resources and marketing, to name a few. When a client sits in my office and sees my diploma from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, most of them state ‘Oh my, you went to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods?’ and I always proudly reply yes. This gives the client confidence that I have taken extra steps to receive an education to run the business at hand, manage the office and take care of their investment needs.”

Eric Kauffman

“I found SMWC while I was looking for a distance education program that would work with my hectic schedule. As a full-time manager at a local company, as well as a husband and father of three children, I needed a program that was going to be flexible. I started in the 16 week format, but had a tendency to wander and let my time get away from me; making life more difficult for me and my family as I would spend the last few weeks buried in my school work. My wife encouraged me to check into the 8 week format and I found I needed the structure of it to help keep me on task.”

“I learned not only from my gifted professors, but also from the staff who gave me their utmost care and support. I felt as if I had been given my own cheering section… Why would I not want to make them proud? My instructors were the best teachers and mentors I could have asked for. Their gift for making everything fascinating and challenging was a reward in itself.  What has had a greater impact on me than all of that, is what everyone at The College invested in me as an individual. Their dedication and love has shown me, as it has so many others, that I am an important part in the history of The Woods. I’m a valued person and my accomplishment is theirs, too.”

Melissa Strange

“With my work schedule and being a single parent, Woods Online was the best fit for me. I can work, fit in my daughter’s needs and still work in my coursework. When my daughter was younger, I waited until she went to bed to study, but now I study at various times. I take my laptop to her gymnastics class and study while I wait. I think it’s good that she sees me as a college student and now she wants to go too.”
