The first “A Woods Christmas” coming to SMWC

News | 11.21.2016

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), in partnership with Miracle on 7th Street, will bring a unique Christmas celebration to the historic and beautiful SMWC campus on Dec. 3.

For one night only, the magic of The Woods will combine with the festive spirit of the season for “A Woods Christmas,” a fun, affordable event featuring a variety of activities for the whole family.

From 3 to 8 p.m., attendees will be treated to the story of Saint Nicholas, hear the beautiful voices of the Madrigals in the historic Guerin Rotunda, experience readers’ theatre of The Night Before Christmas and the Crossroads Brass Quartet, and watch a live Nativity scene, complete with camels, a donkey and sheep while listening to the music of the Terre Haute Children’s Choir.

The captivating architecture at the College will be adorned with Christmas lights – inside and out. Through this event, the College is sharing its mission and tradition to the community in a fun and unique way, said Rachel Leslie, vice president for External Relations.

“The talent of this campus will shine that night,” Leslie said. “The spirit of Christmas will come alive in The Woods in a way that you may not experience anywhere else in Terre Haute or the Wabash Valley.”

Tickets cost $10 per person. Admission is free for children 5 and under. Donations of canned goods will be collected at the gate for Miracle on 7th Street, a civic organization that supports several non-profit organizations in the local area.
