The Speedbumps, indie folk group and Independent Music Awards (IMA) winner, comes to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), Cecilian Auditorium on Mon., April 14, at 7:30 p.m. The Speedbumps, from Kent, Ohio, will bring their Midwest vibes and folk-rock groove to The Woods for this spring concert.

“Because we are combining classical instruments like cello and double bass and using them in a indie folk styling, our performances are always different but consistently engaging,” states lead singer, Erik Urycki. “And for me as a songwriter, its the connection the music makes with the audience that keeps everyone coming back.”

The Woods Student Activities Committee (SAC) is responsible from bringing The Speedbumps, and many other entertainment events, to campus throughout the year. While most events are specifically for SMWC students, SAC coordinates a few events each year for the general public as well.

“We would love to see members of the local community join us to hear the Speedbumps,” states Marguerite Frazier, senior equine business management major and president of SAC. “The mixture of music they share will appeal to all ages and audience members.”

The concert is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., and a local group, Against the Clocks, will be the opening act.
