Designed for high school juniors, the path to success starts at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College on April 28, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.  By attending this free seminar, students will have an opportunity to attend a variety of sessions about higher education to jump-start the college search process.

Students will select three of the seminar sessions below:

  • 21st Century Scholars
  • Athletics
  • Campus Diversity
  • Campus Life
  • Choosing the Right Major
  • College Decision-Making Strategies
  • College Students Q & A
  • Extracurricular Activities
  • Financial Aid and Scholarship Information
  • Finding a Mentor
  • Prepare for Success

Faculty and staff members from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Harrison College, Indiana State University, Ivy Tech State College, Learn More Indiana and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will lead the sessions. A light breakfast and lunch are included.

“In a community that boasts five institutions of higher learning, it is our responsibility to prepare high school students for college,” said Aaron Kelley, director of undergraduate admission at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. “The College Success Seminars provide a forum for students to be exposed to information that they will find useful in their academic careers. We want students to think in terms of when I go to college, not if.”

This campaign is part of the national KnowHow2GO effort led by the Ad Council, American Council on Education and the Lumina Foundation for Education. The Vigo County “KnowHow2Go” College Success Seminar is made possible by a grant from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.
