Rachel Leslie named advancement director

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is pleased to announce the appointment of Rachel Leslie as the director of advancement operations effective March 9, 2012. 

In her role, Leslie will support advancement efforts of the College in alumnae/i relations, annual giving, major and planned giving,  grants development, donor stewardship, research, and data management. She will manage comprehensive advancement programs with the goal of increasing philanthropic support.

“Rachel brings a wide range of talents and enthusiasm, and she will be a welcome addition to our team as we continue to engage our constitutents,” said Dottie King, Ph.D., president of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. “The executive and community development experience that she brings to this position will be of great value to our faculty, staff, students and alumnae/i.”

Leslie joins SMWC after six years at the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce where she recently served as executive vice president. She was involved in all areas of the Chamber including strategic planning, fundraising, new revenue programs, member services, marketing, event planning and staff management. She led the effort to increase Chamber membership and exceeded the goal in a three-day period. Leslie was instrumental promoting the 2010 Community of the Year Award.  She previously served the Chamber as the director of marketing and the director of membership development.

A strong advocate for the community, Leslie is active in many organizations including Downtown Terre Haute, United Way of the Wabsh Valley and Terre Haute Young Leaders.

Leslie earned her bachelor’s degree in speech communication, public relations and journalism from Indiana State University. Additionally, she earned the Institute of Organization Management certification, from the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
