SMWC alums help create viral video for iPhone app

News | 12.20.2010

Erin Goldstein ’05 and Sarah Vaughn ’07 had a major hand in the creation of a “viral” video on YouTube. The video, an ad for software application that translates text between English and Spanish on iPhones, has been viewed over 2 million times since December 16, 2010. Goldstein created the video’s concept and helped finalize the script, while Vaughn helped produce the signs used in the video. If you look closely, you can even spot the Woods Ring!

The application, called Word Lens, translates text captured with the iPhone’s camera in real-time; showing the translated text in the user’s native language on the phone’s screen.

The video has been featured on the Huffington Post, Wired Magazine, New York Times blog, Engadget, Gizmodo and is a trending topic on twitter.
