SMWC Receives Arts Illiana Grant

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College received a grant from Arts Illiana to assist in bringing professional, guest actress, Deila Taylor to campus. Taylor will play the lead in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College’s fall production, The House of Bernarda Alba, October 14-17, 2010.

Taylor works as a professional actress, stage manager, and director in Washington DC and is currently the producing manager of The Jewish Center Professional Theatre in Washington D.C.  In 2009, she performed at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in the role of Jean Brodie in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.  She also directed two shows and presented numerous workshops at the College.

Arts Illiana awarded the grant to Sharon Ammen, Ph.D., associate professor of theatre and the Music and Theatre Department. John McIntyre, D.M.A., department chair and associate professor of music accepted the grant at an Arts Illiana reception September 9, 2010.
