SMWC team competes at national conference

Four members of the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) team set out to compete at the national Future Business Leaders of America- (FBLA) Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas on June 24-27.

FBLA-PBL is education association with a quarter million students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. The members have the competitive edge as the best and brightest of the association and convene to compete in leadership events, share their successes, and learn new ideas about shaping their career futures through workshops and exhibits. The four-day conference is considered the pinnacle of the FBLA-PBL experience, with competitive events and scholarships for students achieving national ranking.

The following are the members of the SMWC PBL chapter attending the conference, with their competition category:

  • Katelyn Duke, Business Communication and Networking Concepts
  • Diana Hernandez Cruz ’12,  Future Business Executive and International Business
  • Patricia Jones ’12, Integrated Marketing Campaign and Business Communication
  • Ashley Tharpe, Integrated Marketing Campaign and Retail Management .

Jones and Tharpe will present to business, academic and student leaders on the success of the SMWC Social Media Virtual Internship program, which combined campus and distance students to establish a social media presence for Wabash Valley non-profit organizations.
