Sounds of the Season at The Woods

News | 11.21.2011

A Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) annual holiday tradition returns as the Chorale and Madrigals present “Christmas in France” on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 3 p.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

The festive concert features the works of French composers and traditional French carols. With a total of 55 student performers under the direction of Michael Boswell, assistant professor of music, concertgoers will be treated to music of the season spanning almost 900 years.

The concert theme “Christmas in France,” was inspired by the ensembles plans to perform in France in May 2012. The international musical tour includes performances in Normandy Beach, Mont Saint-Michel, Chartres, Paris, and special historical landmarks such as the birthplace of the College’s foundress, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin.

The concert showcases the excellence of the SMWC music program, which is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and offers bachelor’s degrees in music and music therapy.

The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Michael Boswell at (812) 535-5017.
