Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College’s (SMWC) one-year, online hybrid Master of Leadership Development (MLD) program is designed for busy professionals looking to take their careers to new heights. Learn more about MLD during an open information session on Nov. 28, 2012, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Clabber Girl or from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Vigo County Public Library.
MLD, a distinguished alternative to the typical MBA, focuses on building visionary leadership skills for professionals. Students may choose from four focus areas including financial, nonprofit, organizational or individualized Leadership. These students and graduates make a difference in organizations like Eli Lilly, General Electric, Union Hospital, the Terre Haute Children’s Museum and more.
“MLD has given me techniques I use everyday at Lilly,” said Stephanie Byrde, manager for global medical communication at Eli Lilly. “If an issue arises, I have a lot of tools to pull from.”
MLD shows students how to navigate the fast-paced business world with courses like financial management and strategic planning. The program also emphasizes leadership at any level in any organization with classes like ethical decision-making and creative leadership. MLD graduates not only change the way organizations think about leadership, they change the way leaders think about leadership.
“I went for MLD when my oldest child was six months old and I worked full-time,” said 2008 MLD graduate Gwen Tucker, executive director of the Council on Domestic Abuse (CODA). “The program was a great fit because I was able to get my master’s degree in a year, which was unheard of, and keep my job.”
