In the 1920s The Radium Dial Company opened a factory in Ottawa, Illinois.  Over the next 11 years more than a thousand women would be hired to paint the dials on clock and watch faces. These Shining Lives is based on the true story of some of these women and how they fought against the company after it became clear that they had been poisoned doing their jobs.  Theirs is a story of friendship, strength, and determination as they refuse to give up in even when the company and the public seem against them.  Their fight would change the rules and laws governing worker safety.
