Keynote, Friday, April 21, 11:00am – 12:00pm

What is “global?” What is “leadership?” And what is “global leadership?”

Scholars, executives, and human resource professionals often hold differing definitions of “global leadership.” The result is that within academe and the business world, people talk past each other, assuming others understand global leadership the same way they do. These incorrect assumptions cause problems in the research literature and in the efficacy of organizations’ talent management, strategy development and implementation, and leadership development. My keynote address aims to provide some clarity to this definitional confusion, and also to point both doctoral students and scholars toward promising areas of future research in global leadership and provide executives and managers with a helpful framework for selecting, developing, retaining, and placing global leaders within their organizations.
