Michelle Tracy presents her proposal

The Master of Leadership Development program (MLD) at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College prepares students to take the next steps in their careers. In the Not-for-profit concentration, grant writing is a prominent part of the curriculum.

Recently two MLD students made presentations of proposals to Meals on Wheels in downtown Indianapolis for grants to benefit specific populations that they serve to help their mission of food security for all.

Marianna Foulkrod, MAAS, the instructor for the grant writing class, was glad to be able to incorporate experiential learning into the class. “I am glad to have the opportunity to teach this course and to have the flexibility to incorporate these opportunities for our students.”

Laura Bridges presents her proposal

Students Michelle Tracy and Laura Bridges met with CEO Jamie Johnson and Director of Programs, David Carpenter for proposals that each had put together.

Tracy’s proposal is through Community Health Foundation for $30,000 to provide medically tailored meals at Dove Recovery House for Women. Bridge’s proposal is through Elevance Health Foundation for $112,000 to address the medically adapted meal needs among type 2 diabetics.

The agency plans to submit both proposals.
