Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) will be hosting Family Weekend April 18 through 21. Family Weekend offers each student’s family the opportunity to visit and see their personal and academic growth. Families can meet other students, their families and faculty and staff members of the College.
The weekend will consist of several activities, including concerts, student poster shows and a student achievement ceremony on Saturday night that recognizes their academic and leadership achievements. Student clubs and organizations will also host events throughout the weekend, including a petting zoo, color run, cookout and more.
The festivities will kick off on Thursday with the annual Dr. Theresa L. Gioannini Student Poster Show in Le Fer Hall, followed by the SMWC Band Concert at 7 p.m. in the Harvey Auditorium in the Conservatory of Music. The concert “A Festive Finale” will be presented under the direction of Dr. John McIntyre. This will be McIntyre’s final concert at SMWC, as he will retire later this year. The band concert is free and open to the public.
During the weekend, students will also be honored during the Student Achievement Ceremony, where students and their families may attend. The ceremony will take place in the Harvey Auditorium.
The SMWC Softball team will play on Friday, and it will be Senior Day on Saturday, with the doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
On Sunday, April 21, the cookout will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ariens Atrium in the Knoerle Center and then at 3 p.m., the SMWC Choirs will perform their spring concert, “What is Human?” in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. The concert will include the SMWC Chorale and Madrigals. The choir concert is also free and open to the public.
