1. Why did you choose SMWC?
I chose to earn my degree at SMWC because of my family’s connection to the College. My great-aunt, Jeanne Knoerle SP, ’49, served as the College’s president (1968 to 1983). My aunt, Mary Jeanne Miller ’80 and my grandmother, Anne Knoerle Schram ’55, were also alumni. I have fond memories of visiting the campus as a young girl with my family. When it came time to apply to college, I felt a strong pull towards SMWC.
2. Why did you choose your major?
I chose my major the first week I arrived on campus. On my first day, I met with former President Dottie L. King, Ph.D., and she shared her experience as a math major in college. She spoke highly of the growing mathematics program at SMWC. Throughout the week, I heard from multiple students about the amazing math professors. Since math had always been a subject I adored, I decided to pursue it. Choosing math has been one of my best decisions; it has sharpened my critical thinking, kept me intellectually engaged and challenged me with complex concepts.
3. What is your favorite place on campus?
The horse stables and alpaca pens are my favorite places on campus. As an animal lover, having these animals on campus is incredible. I often stop by to pet the barn cats that roam around!
4. What has been your favorite memory from your Woods experience?
My favorite memory from my Woods experience is receiving my Woods Ring. I was honored to receive my Great Aunt Jeanne’s ring, and my family flew in from California to celebrate with me. Wearing her ring every day strengthens my connection to her and reminds me of that special day surrounded by my loved ones.
6. How do you plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating?
I plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating by attending Reunion, participating in the Alumni Affinity Group for Presidential Corps and maintaining the relationships I have built with faculty and staff!
