What Does Test-Optional Mean for You?
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College believes that the value is in the student. In some cases, test scores tell a portion of that student’s story but in others, the scores are not a representation of the student’s success. This holistic approach will further help SMWC to consider student strengths that are exhibited in other areas rather than just ACT or SAT test scores. This will allow SMWC to further its commitment to increase access to an affordable quality education and commitment to inclusion and diversity.
You may feel that your application will be stronger without the standardized test scores. If so, you should apply test-optional and you will not be sharing those scores during the admissions process.
You may feel that your standardized test scores accurately portray your academic success. If so, we would encourage you to submit your test scores.
Your application, along with all materials submitted, will be reviewed as an entire body of work and applying test-optional will not hurt any chance of being accepted.
