As we continue to monitor information from government and public health officials, we have been cognizant of and are planning for a thoughtful approach to reopening the College. Yesterday, Governor Eric Holcomb announced that he will share next steps for reopening Indiana later this week. We will communicate with the SMWC community again following guidance from state leaders.
We have been preparing to re-open next week, May 4, 2020, if allowed, and it will be a phased approach. Communications will be forthcoming on what this phased approach will look like. Please watch your email for updates before assuming you may return to your campus work environment.
While we remain actively engaged in the COVID-19 situation, it is also time to look forward.
President Dottie King has asked for the COVID-19 taskforce to transition to a planning team to address our return to campus and the reopening of the College for campus-based classes this fall. The committee will facilitate a comprehensive plan that will look closely at campus operations, activities, business continuity and instruction with the health and safety of our community at the forefront.
COVID-19 may have challenged us in many ways, but we have persevered and will continue to do so as we see this crisis through to its fruition. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated as we continue to move the College forward.
