PBCAC Curriculum
To obtain the Addictions Counseling certification, individuals must complete the following coursework. After acquiring the certificate, individuals must then complete 2 years of supervised work in an addictions counseling setting before qualifying to sit for the Indiana licensure exam in addictions counseling (LAC*). Get more information from the professional licensing agency here.
*Licensure requirements vary by state; students outside Indiana are responsible for determining if this curriculum meets their own state requirements. Indiana requires 40 credits for the LAC license preparation. Most Bachelor degrees in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, etc. include some of those 40 credits. Students who have not completed courses in Abnormal Psychology, Developmental Psychology and related areas can take those at SMWC.
