My artwork created during the MAAT program these past two and a half years shaped my identity as an emerging art therapist—I am always changing and always growing. They have helped me narrow down my strengths as a person and as a future professional. I have been able to uncover certain aspects of myself through art making and recognize my strengths. The art making experience throughout my MAAT journey has revealed the most common themes in my life: my values, strengths, and things I need to work on in both my personal and professional lives.

My artwork has been comprised of various media and themes. My most used art media are watercolor and collage and many of my artworks are heavy in symbolism. I have been able to recognize that I process my own thoughts and feelings the best by using symbolism. I can also use my successes and failures with different art making to guide my clients through their own healing.

Your imagery and symbolism definitely tell a story of the journey you have been on over the past few years. You can see progress and development in your use of different materials. There is also such a strong connection to nature in your art, which I really appreciate. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, and good luck in your future career!
