Cost, Assistantships and Incentives
SMWC offers a competitive credit hour price and a transparent fee structure. Students take 18 credit hours a year, with a 6 credit hour dissertation the final year.
Included is a $2,500 USD per student professional development fund that can be applied for in order to increase student access to opportunities such as faculty-led student abroad trips, conferences or research support.

International Center GLOBAL Leadership Series
The Ph.D. in Global Leadership program accepts successful completion of the International Center’s James T. Morris Global Leadership Series as GL 862: Reimagining Global Leadership Development when a student is admitted and enrolls in the Ph.D. in Global Leadership program. Students will submit a copy of their Morris Global Leadership Series certificate of completion to the Director of the Ph.D. in Global Leadership program and course credit will be awarded.

“Fields where holding a doctorate could provide a generous salary increase over those with only a master’s degree include engineering, physical sciences, social sciences and biological sciences. In these cases, the potential salary earnings for those with a Ph.D. can be $30,000 [USD] higher per year than those with just a master’s degree. This is largely due to the level of knowledge that is required to take on high-paying roles in these fields”

Pomeroy Graduate Assistants
Ph.D. in Global Leadership program welcomes applications for Pomeroy Graduate Assistant positions. The number of Pomeroy Graduate Assistants in the Ph.D. program will depend upon department need and availability. The Pomeroy Graduate Assistants typically complete a variety of tasks related to research, daily operations associated with the Ph.D. in Global Leadership program, and more.
The application process is competitive for the positions that are available. Each Pomeroy Graduate Assistant will receive tuition benefits.
Pomeroy Graduate Assistants must be enrolled as full-time doctoral students for the duration of the position. Pomeroy Graduate Assistant positions are 10-month academic year positions with the months of December and July off. Those selected are eligible to re-apply each year; however, the position continues to be competitive. The hours worked and position benefits can vary up to 15-20 hours per week depending upon the Ph.D. in Global Leadership program director selection and needs. Domestic and international students are eligible to apply.
