Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), joins all of Indiana’s 31 private, nonprofit colleges and universities across the state by opening its doors to students, parents and others involved in the college selection process during Indiana Private College Week, July 21-25, 2014.
SMWC presents Explore Your Future on July 24, 2014. Visitors will get a first-hand look at all the campus has to offer through tours, informational sessions with faculty and staff. Through a variety of activities, students and their families will have the opportunity to learn about academic programs, student life and financial aid. Students will connect one-on-one with future professors and classmates.
According to research conducted by TargetX, 90 percent of high school students interviewed about their college selection said that their campus visit influenced their choice because it “felt right.” The campus visit is a highly trusted source of information because a school’s description on paper finally comes to life. There is no better way for students to experience the “feel” of a campus than to visit and begin to discover what their best fit for college will be.
“Students and families discover by visiting that Indiana private colleges are within reach, financially and otherwise,” says Richard L. Ludwick, president & CEO of the Independent Colleges of Indiana. “ICI colleges and universities make millions of scholarship dollars available to students all four years, making top-flight higher education a dream come true for tens of thousands of students. We want this week to be a gateway to discovering that dream realized.”
Additionally, SWMC will highlight the private college advantages – a quality education, small classes and personal attention. Visitors will discover that SMWC students are well prepared for careers as their foundation begins with strong academics, meaningful campus engagement and various leadership opportunities.
