The new food service provider for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Bon Appetit, appointed a general manager for the SMWC campus, which began its services July 1.
Justin Hickman, who has more than 18 years of experience in the foodservice industry, said he is excited to join the SMWC community. He first began in catering for his family’s business when he was a young man.
“I remember balling melon for days and doing cold prep when I was old enough to help,” Hickman said.
Jaclyn Walters, vice president for finance and administration, has worked with Bon Appetit and Hickman as the College transitions between foodservice companies.
“The College has been very pleased with Bon Appetit’s services,” Walters said. “Justin’s knowledge and positive attitude meshes well with the campus culture. Employees and especially students are eagerly anticipating eating in the Barbara Doherty Dining Center.”
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Northern Illinois University. He began working as an accounting manager in Chicago. In 2009, he joined Bon Appetit at Wheaton College. From there, he worked with the University of Chicago team.
