SMWC celebrates International Education Week November 18-22, 2024 with various events and initiatives on campus and virtually. International Education Week is sponsored by the offices of Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Student Life, English Language Institute and Global Leadership. Join us to celebrate international education!

International Education Week is an initiative brought by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to celebrate the collaboration between countries in international education and to highlight programs that prepare individuals for the global environment.

International Education Week 2023

Along with scheduled events, there will be a meal option that features a different country each day thanks to a collaboration from a group consisting of faculty, students and Aladdin! The featured international meal option will occur during lunch on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and dinner on Tuesday and Thursday.​​​​​​​

Monday, November 13

The Woods World Fair
Woods Student Center, Rooney Center

An international flag ceremony will start the week’s events at 11:15 a.m., followed by a come-and-go style event where you can visit various cultural displays, learn more about a few SMWC student global projects, taste sweets from around the world, participate in an interactive global community art project (no experience necessary) and more!

Cooking class learning Turkish recipes, cooking techniques, and enjoying yummy creations! Reservations are required but space is still available!

Global Crossroads

​​​​​​​Are you ready to explore? Learn more about opportunities to study abroad or take part in a faculty-led trip. Anneliese Weilhammer and Taiwo Anifowse will lead those students who have studied abroad to share their experiences, relate the experience to their field of study, and how it has broadened their cultural view.

International Faculty and Staff will discuss their country of origin, challenges in adapting to life in the United States, and experiences in establishing personal and professional lives. Panelists include Leona Amaning, Monica Baez-Holley, Ph.D., Martha Reed, and Yizhou Xie, Ph.D.
