The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) women’s basketball team has added three more players to its 2012 recruiting class, head coach Deanna Bradley announced. Madeline Pea, Hailee Rittinger and Brandi McDaniel signed letters of intent and will join the Pomeroys for the 2012-13 season.

“We have signed a great group of student athletes,” Bradley shared. “Each of these young women brings a great work ethic and passion for the game of basketball, and will benefit us tremendously.”

Information on each of the students is as follows:

Madeline Pea

Madeline Pea

Madeline Pea, a 5’7” shooting guard from Salem, Ill., comes to SMWC after playing two seasons at John Wood Community College in Quincy, Ill.

Pea averaged 6.5 ppg, 4 rpg and was solid from the free throw line at 71 percent. She plans to study graphic design.

“Madeline brings an aggressive worth ethic to the guard position,” Bradley added. “Due to recovering from ACL surgery in June, she will be limited to the second half of the season, but once she gets on the floor, we anticipate her fitting in very quickly.”

Hailee Rittinger

SMWC will receive much needed size with the signing of Hailee Rittinger, a 6’0 forward from Centerville, Ohio. Rittinger comes to the Pomeroys after two strong seasons at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio.

Rittinger chipped in 6 ppg and 5 rpg for Sinclair as well as 2.5 blocks per game last season. She plans to study early childhood education.

“Hailee has a good inside/outside game, and brings needed height to the team,” Bradley explained. “She will be strong with her inside play, but can also step out and hit the 15-footer.  Her versatility will be a welcomed asset.”

Brandi McDaniel

SMWC brings in another player from the Buckeye state with the signing of Brandi McDaniel from Franklin, Ohio. McDaniel also comes to SMWC via Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, where she had an outstanding 2011-12 season.

McDaniel, a 5’10” forward, averaged 15.5 ppg and 7.5 rpg as well as shooting 48 percent from the field and 74 percent from the free-throw line.  She will major in business at The Woods.

Bradley said, “Brandi is a strong post player, and will help our inside game both offensively and defensively. She is very physical, and will help clean things up on the board for us as well.”
