Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) recently announced additional majors and minors to its academic programs and changes to some existing programs beginning this fall.
The Equine Department will begin offering a Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies Pre-Veterinary Science. This program will utilize the renovated state-of-the-art large animal classroom enabling pre-vet majors to get hands-on experience. This will be offered in addition to the Bachelor of Science in Equine Science, the only program of its kind in Indiana. Minors that have been added to the Equine Department include Equine Breeding and Management and Equine Therapeutic Riding.
The Business and Leadership Department will add a minor in Digital Marketing to complement the ten majors and six minors offered and is available on campus or through Woods Online.
Biology majors will now be offered several concentrations to choose from. There will be a general concentration, a pre-professional concentration and a biostatistics concentration.
The Kinesiology Department will now offer concentrations in Exercise Science, Health Science and Recreation Science.
Janet Clark, Ph.D., provost/executive vice president for student affairs, noted that SMWC continues to review academic programs for improvements. “The faculty are constantly working to improve the offerings of the College through expanded degree programs as well as minors that will complement a student’s academic interests to assist them upon graduation.”
