Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) and Ivy Tech Community College Wabash Valley announced today a restructure of their transfer pathway agreement, which maps course selection options for Ivy Tech students seeking a bachelor’s degree at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. The articulation agreement is designed to build a strong partnership between both institutions, and most importantly to aid in a smooth transition for local students. The agreement should prove extremely helpful for students because by identifying comparable coursework early on, their degree requirements can be met at both colleges.

“Our institutions have a long-standing history of collaboration,” said President of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Dottie King, Ph.D., “This agreement builds upon that relationship and broadens the opportunities Ivy Tech students have when choosing to transfer to The Woods to earn their bachelor’s degree.”

This agreement prepares students to transfer to SMWC. While completing an associate’s degree at Ivy Tech, students can satisfy the SMWC general education requirements by taking those courses at The Woods at the Ivy Tech rate. Students will save time and money and identify a clear pathway to degree completion. Early engagement with SMWC makes an easy transition to the campus community to help students reach their educational and career goals.

“The goal of this expanded agreement is to provide an additional transfer option to our students, and also to help them easily identify a finite and cost-effective path to reaching their goals,” said Ivy Tech Chancellor, Jonathan Weinzapfel. “Although we have worked with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College for many years, we are always looking for opportunities to further the partnership between our two institutions. Furthermore, this revised transfer agreement will provide our Ivy Tech College Connection Coaches with the information they need to help area high school students easily map out their long-term educational path.”
