The Global Leadership Institute (GLI) at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) announced the Excellence in Global Leadership Award during the recent Global Leadership Institute Conference.
Mark Mendenhall, Ph.D., received the 2023 Excellence in Global Leadership distinction, which recognizes an individual who demonstrates a passion for the field of global leadership and significantly contributes to the increase of knowledge and application of global leadership into the world. Mendenhall is an internationally recognized scholar in the field of global leadership and international human resources and holds the J. Burton Frierson Chair of Excellence in Business Leadership at the Gary W. Rollins College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. He has published more than 125 academic journal articles and scholarly book chapters and co-authored or edited 30 books.
Dr. Mendenhall provided the keynote address at the 2023 Global Leadership Institute Conference on What is “global?” What is “leadership”? And what is “global leadership?” while also participating as a panelist in the roundtable discussion on the Standard of Global Leadership Education. SMWC President Dottie L. King, Ph.D., presented the award to Dr. Mendenhall following his keynote speech.
Kimberly LaComba, Ph.D., director of the Ph.D. in Global Leadership program at SMWC and Global Outreach Pillar Lead for the Global Leadership Institute, stated, “Dr. Mendenhall and his global leadership research provides foundational knowledge to those studying global leadership in addition to forward-thinking insights. While sharing his research findings with the world, he encourages collaborations to increase the body of knowledge and application of global leadership. He is the ideal inaugural Excellence in Global Leadership award winner.” Mendenhall also dedicates time to the practical application of his research through global leadership consulting.
