Two Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College athletic trainers from Union Hospital were honored recently by being awarded heart badges for their outstanding efforts as athletic trainers.
Stephanie Toubman and Tinasia Smalls were presented with new badges with filled-in hearts by Union Hospital officials. Yvette Cress, Union Hospital Coordinator for Sports Medicine and Leah Salvador, Union Hospital Director of Orthopedic Service were joined by Shannon Hamilton, head athletic trainer for SMWC and Ron Prettyman, associate vice president for athletics for SMWC, to make the presentation.
Name badges for Union employees start with four empty hearts. When an act of compassion to a patient or another employee is shared, one of the hearts on the employee’s name badge is filled in to acknowledge their actions and impact.
