On September 11, 2012, SMWC remembered the 11th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001, with a day of service dedicated to honoring United States service men and women.

“I think it’s important to remember and memorialize people who died that day and people who have died in wars since then while defending our freedom,” Mohan said in an interview with Sue Loughlin, a reporter for the Terre Haute Tribune Star.

The 9/11 Day of Service began at 9 a.m. with a moment of silence for fallen soldiers. In between classes students wrote letters and stuffed care packets with snack foods and toiletries for soldiers fighting overseas. In the evening, the students gathered in the Woods Student Center to craft camouflage rosaries.

“I think it’s important to do that every year and not just the 10th anniversary,” Mohan said in the interview.
