Like the fall semester, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) will continue face-to-face classes for the spring 2021 term, College officials announced Nov. 5. Also continuing is the campus protocols in regard to physical distancing, wearing masks in classrooms and common areas and completing daily check-ins.
Students will return to campus on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, to begin the spring 2021 term and will conclude the semester on Friday, May 7. Classes will recess for a combined spring and Easter break from March 29 through April 5, and then resume face-to-face on Tuesday, April 6.
“As I watch what is happening in our state, I remain thankful that Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College has been so very fortunate to have a thoughtful, respectful community which continues to be vigilant during this pandemic,” said Janet Clark, Ph.D., vice president for academic and student affairs.
Students and employees of The Woods will continue to log daily check-ins with the #CampusClear app. This will help College officials keep a close eye on the COVID-19 numbers in the Woods community while also helping to prevent any spread of the virus.
“Our COVID-19 numbers have remained low even as the state and county have seen a spike in cases within the last couple of weeks,” Clark said.
Along with the combined breaks, the College will also be closed and have no classes on Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 18 and Presidents’ Day on Feb. 15. College offices will be closed Good Friday on April 2.
“I am grateful to be surrounded by such a dedicated and creative team who puts our collective health and wellness first so that learning may continue without disruption,” Clark added. “And, I am so proud of our campus for the care with which each of you take for our community’s safety.”
