1. Why did you choose to earn your degree at SMWC?
I chose to earn my degree at SMWC because the environment of the campus and professors seemed more intimate and personable than other colleges or universities. The smaller campus allowed a close bond with students and faculty. It seemed family-like, which is really important to me. This college has been wonderful with earning my degree.
2. Why did you choose your major?
I chose my majors because I aspire to help the community maintain their purpose, hope and strengths. I think with my three majors I will benefit the community in mental health. I have always had a passion for helping others and being a listening ear.
3. What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the Woods Café in the Rooney Center. It’s nice to grab a coffee and then sit down and get some homework done in between classes.
4. What have you been involved in (student clubs and organizations, sports teams, etc.) during your time at SMWC?
I was part of the psychology club for a little bit. I really enjoyed the club with the time I was in it. I spend more time outside of campus earning my degree with internships and studying.
5. What is a favorite memory you have from your Woods experience?
My all-time favorite memory has to be Ring Day! I had been waiting for this moment since freshman year, and it was such a beautiful day! I absolutely love this tradition. My favorite educational memory from my Woods experience is when I had the opportunity to participate in a mock crime scene for my criminology class. Another great experience I had the opportunity to participate in was a simulation family therapy session I was running for my psychology class at the Rural Health Innovation Collaborative simulationRHIC center. These opportunities allowed me to have a glimpse into my career.
6. How do you plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating?
I plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduation is to continue my education and be a part of the master’s program for clinical mental health counseling. I love this campus and what it has to offer. This was the best decision for my bachelor’s degree, and I plan to continue my education thanks to my experience with my undergraduate.
