SMWC Senior Spotlight: Kennedy Trigg

Blog | 03.28.2025

Name: Kennedy Trigg
Major: Nursing
Hometown: Greencastle, Indiana

1. Why did you choose to earn your degree at SMWC?
I chose SMWC’s nursing program because of the amazing professors and their understanding. They made it clear to me on my visit that they are here to help their students succeed in any way that they can. Being a student-athlete, my professors made it very clear to me that they would work with me to make it possible for me to do both nursing and soccer, which is very special.

2. Why did you choose your major?
I have wanted to be a neonatal nurse ever since my kindergarten field trip to the local hospital. As soon as I saw the little humans I knew that was the job I wanted.

3. What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is The 1840. I have spent countless hours with some of my favorite people studying for exams until the next morning. I have so many fond memories in that space.

4. What have you been involved in (student clubs and organizations, sports teams, etc.) during your time at SMWC?
I have played on the women’s soccer team for the past four years and have been a captain for two and a half years. I have also participated in Student Nurses Association, Peace and Justice Club, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma), and the Nurse Apprentice Program through Union Hospital.

5. What is a favorite memory you have from your Woods experience?
My favorite memory from here at The Woods is going sledding with the Sisters of Providence down in the grotto.

6. How do you plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating?
I plan on attending future SMWC soccer games once I graduate and will be keeping up-to-date with SMWC’s events on social media.
