1. Why did you choose to earn your degree at SMWC?
I chose Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College because the College felt like home. It gives off a welcoming vibe, and I knew it was the place I wanted to go. The classes are small, and almost everyone knows everyone on campus. Another reason I chose to go to SMWC was because of the Saint Mother Theodore Guerin (SMTG) Scholarship. That scholarship has opened so many doors for me!
2. Why did you choose your major?
When it came to choosing my major, I knew I wanted to go into teaching. When I was in high school, I had a teacher who made an impact on my life and opened my eyes to the special education field. I have also enjoyed working with other students when it comes to anything school-related. As a child, I would even play teacher with my younger sibling while using the fridge as a whiteboard. I felt that this has always been the path for me, but a teacher helped me pick the one I am the best at. Thank you, Miss Jacks, for helping me find my career path!
3. What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is Guerin Hall. I have always liked the building, and it holds a lot of memories. Some of the history of SMWC is shown on the walls in Guerin throughout. I truly like to go to the Guerin Hall Little Theater.
4. What have you been involved in (student clubs and organizations, sports teams, etc.) during your time at SMWC?
Throughout my education path at SMWC, I have been involved with SFLC (Sophomore Freshman Leadership Council) for two years. I was secretary my sophomore year. My focus at SMWC was my Saint Mother Theodore Guerin Scholarship. I have been involved in the honors program for all four years. This scholarship has made an impact on my life and my courses. I know serve on the SMTG Leadership Council.
5. What is a favorite memory you have from your Woods experience?
A favorite memory that I have from my Woods experience is Ring Day. I have looked forward to getting my SMWC ring before I even started college. It has always been a dream that I shared with my Grandma and Mom. Aside from Ring Day, I would have to say an amazing experience was meeting my friends that I have as best friends today.
6. How do you plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating?
I plan to stay connected to SMWC after graduating by attending any alumni events that I can, always wearing my Woods Ring and promote the college. Something that I would like to do to stay connected with the College is to come back as a guest speaker wherever I might be needed.
