SMWC Western Equestrian Team Claims High Point Award

The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) Western Equestrian Team hosted two western shows in its eleven-team region Saturday, October 30, 2010. The team posted outstanding performance as they earned the Reserve High Point Team award, with Purdue University winning the High Point Team award. The afternoon show’s performance was even more outstanding with the team winning the High Point award, with Purdue coming in second earning the Reserve High Point Team award.

Open Rail and Open Reining rider junior Morgyn Purdy (Morgantown, Ind.) claimed the High Point Rider award in the afternoon show and the Reserve High Point Rider award in the morning show. Nearly all of the SMWC team members earned a ribbon.

The next two western shows will be November 13^th at Rosebud Ranch hosted by Purdue and Purdue-Calumet in Brookston, Ind. The morning show will begin at 9 a.m. and the afternoon show at 1 p.m.
